Linda Diane Watkins (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Linda Diane Watkins, daughter of Thomas and Elsie Smith Sorrell, was born September 14, 1947, in Brownsville, Tennessee. She departed this life Wednesday, July 8, 2020, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, nine months, and twenty-four days.
On April 12 1982, she was united in marriage to James A. Watkins who passed away on December 19, 2007 .
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Phillip Sorrell and Tommy Sorrell; and two sisters, Molly Spradling and Peggy Hensley.
Linda is survived by a daughter, Amanda Colbert, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Dennis Harrison, of Springfield, Missouri; four grandchildren; a brother, Dennis Sorrell, of Conway, Missouri; a step-brother, Gary Holland, of the State of Indiana; a step-sister, Angie Mattingly, of the State of Indiana; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Tennessee and Florida and traveled some with her family. She then made her home in Tennessee for a number of years, and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in social work. She began working as a social worker in a profession she really enjoyed. She moved to the Buffalo, Missouri area about twenty years ago, and began working at the Burrell Center in Humansville. She had also worked as a correctional officer in prison for a time. She was very proud of her work and her professional accomplishments.
In her spare time she enjoyed fishing and liked spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved sweets and considered her sisters as her best friends.
Linda was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020, in Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon. Visitation will follow the service.
