L. Jewell Hale (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Lena Jewell Hale, age 98, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Jordan Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, Missouri.
She was born May 10, 1912 in Halfway, Missouri to Charlie Chappell and Lucy (Williams) Chappell.
Jewell spent her early years in Chicago, Illinois where she met her husband Cecil R. Hale whom she met and married in 1933. After his service in the Army they moved to Texas and lived there until retirement when they then moved to Springfield, Missouri. After Cecil passed away in 1976 she maintained her home, enjoyed her church family at Grace United Methodist Church, loved her friends, playing bridge and tending her flowers until February 2007 at which time she was admitted into a skilled nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil in 1976, four brothers, Con, Shirl, Chester and Bud Chappell, two sisters, Wilma Chappell, Alma Griffin and a grandson, Andy Hale.
Jewell is survived by her son, Fred Hale, two brothers, Ray Chappell and his wife Lorene of Bolivar, Missouri, Charles Chappell and his wife Theresa of Springfield, Missouri, a sister, June Summers and her husband Gale of Springfield, Missouri, a sister-in-law, Barbara Chappell of Bolivar, Missouri and two grandsons, Kevin Hale and Spencer Hale, numerous nephews, nieces and many friends.
