Lloyd Akers' Obituary
Lloyd Ronald Akers, son of Elmer Lloyd and Ruth Lee (McWilliams) Akers was born August 9, 1945 in Aurora, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, June 11, 2010 in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri at the age of sixty-four years, ten months and two days.
He was united in marriage to Jeannine Rae Brown and together they have shared thirty-five wonderful years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Robert Baker; and a brother, Jeff Moskal.
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife, Jeanie, of the home; four children, Kathryn Baker and her husband, Randy of Lawson, Missouri, Ronnie Akers, of Seymour, Missouri, Matthew Akers and his wife, Christie, of Ava, Missouri, and Daniel Akers and his wife, Brittany, of Seymour, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Ashlie, Kayla, Caleb, Ashton, Braeden, Jacob, Stormi, Patricia, Daniel Wayne II, and Hayden; two brothers, Johnny Moskal of Farmington, New Mexico and Terry Moskal of Tempe, Arizona; two sisters, Cindy Cook and Janice Jean, of Mesa, Arizona; an aunt, Kathleen Plaster, of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and owned and operated Akers Conoco Station in North Kansas City for several years. He and Jeanie had also lived in El Paso, Texas for a few years, and then moved back to Kansas City before moving to Seymour, Missouri in l994 to make their home. He had also worked as an over-the-road truck driver and was a currier for BAM Cartage in Springfield, Missouri at the time of his death.
In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved working crossword puzzles.
Lloyd was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will cherish all the wonderful memories he created for his family and many friends.
Graveside services are 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 16, 2010 in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery under direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Mo.
