Lloyd Bo Dickson's Obituary
Lloyd Glen “Bo” Dickson, son of Robert and Iva Lena Good Dickson, was born January 24, 1927 near Seymour, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, January 17, 2008 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Missouri at the age of eighty years, eleven months, and twenty-three days. On July 15, 1967, Bo was united in marriage to Bessie Irene Manar and together they have shared the past forty years. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Irvin Dickson; three sisters, Mildred Owens, Shirley Clift and Arlene Bakkum; and one grandson, Clifton Dickson. He is survived by his wife Bessie, of the home; four children, Ronald “Butch” Dickson and his wife Pamela, of Atoka, Oklahoma, Kathy Webb and her husband Bruce, of Walla Walla, Washington, Richard Dickson and his wife Sandy, of Puyallup, Washington, and Virginia Truitt and her husband Tony, of Spring Creek, Nevada; six step-children, Ronald Street and his wife Pamela, of Springfield, Missouri, Jimmy Street and his wife Delphine of Valdosta, Georgia, Janet Sanders, JoAnn Wormington and her husband, Ralph, and Gerald Street, all of Seymour, Missouri; Perry Street and his wife Elizabeth, of Mansfield, Missouri; twenty-five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Nadine Sartin, of Seymour, Missouri; three brothers, Jack Dickson and his wife Juanita, and Bill Dickson and his wife Barbara, all of Seymour, Missouri and Keith Dickson and his wife Angie, of Rogersville, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Ida Dickson, of Seymour, Missouri and Lorene Dickson, of Independence, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, Richard Bakkum, of Seymour, Missouri and Orville Clift, of Marshfield, Missouri; the children’s mother, Marjorie Holmes, of College Place, Washington; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Bo was a lifelong resident of Webster County and had owned and operated an auto body shop in Diggins. After his retirement from the body shop, he and Oscar Lorenz worked together for many years building houses and doing general carpentry work. He had made his profession of faith in God and had followed the Protestant faith throughout his life. Bo was a veteran of the United States Army and had served his country faithfully during World War II. He was a former member of the Wilson Alexander American Legion Post #306 in Seymour and had served as a Councilman in Diggins for 15 years. In his spare time, Bo enjoyed fishing, hunting, antiquing, collecting pocket knives and kerosene lamps. He loved spending time with his family, especially his wife. Bo was a loving husband, father, step-father, grand father, brother, brother-in-law and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5 - 7:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri.
