Lloyd Sanford Harris (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Lloyd Sanford Harris, son of Robert Sanford and Alma Tice Tilley Harris, was born February 20, 1925, near Plato, in Texas County, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, September 8, 2013, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, six months, and eighteen days.
On April 26, 1946, he was united in marriage to Nicksie Maxine Woody, and they shared fifty-seven years before her passing on November 29, 2003.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert L., and Francis M. Harris.
Lloyd is survived by a number of nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Geneva Harris, of the State of Texas, and Blanche Shivers, and her husband, Don, of Richland, Missouri; special friends, Abe, Ellen, Trent and Treana Penner, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Plato, Missouri area, and was a graduate of Plato High School in the Class of 1943. He served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force from July 9, 1943, until July 19, 1944. After being honorably discharged from the military, he returned to the Plato area. Once he and Nicksie were married, they made their home in Lebanon, and Lloyd began working as a civil service employee at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He continued in that profession for thirty years. He then worked as a truck driver for Detroit Tool Corporation in Lebanon for nineteen years.
Lloyd had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of First Christian Church in Lebanon.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting and fishing. He also liked watching basketball games.
Lloyd was a loving brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that he will be fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
