Lloyd Kelley (Hartville)'s Obituary
Lloyd Chester Kelley, son of Marion and Dolly Witt Kelley, was born November 20, 1927 near Hartville, Missouri. He was taken into the Lord’s care Friday, July 21, 2017 in Lebanon, Missouri at the age of eighty-nine years, seven months, and one day.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Betty; two daughters, Judith Ann Kelley and Donna B. Kelley; and two sisters, Hazell and Pauline Kelley.
He is survived by one daughter, Judy Kennon and her husband Jim, of Potosi, Missouri; three sons, Russell Kelley, of Hartville, Missouri, Mike Kelley and his wife Loetta, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Jeff Kelley, and his wife Judy, of Richland, Missouri; eleven grand-children, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
Lloyd was born in Hartville, but moved to Oklahoma shortly after his father died while he was still young. When he was just fourteen, Lloyd moved back to the Hartville area to live with his grandmother. When he came of age he left home and began working at a saw mill. Shortly after he started working he married Lois Nadine Adams. After Lois passed Lloyd met and fell in love with Betty Smith. The two were later married and moved to St. Louis.
While Lloyd was in St. Louis he worked a couple jobs, but mainly stayed with a factory that primarily manufactured ladders. Eventually, Lloyd and Betty decided to move back to the Wright County area and he began working for the county. He eventually retired from the county but continued to haul fruit and vegetables, especially watermelons, all over.
Lloyd was an excellent fisherman and an established hunter. Come springtime he always put out a big garden if he was able. If there was an auction in town or near around, you could always bet that Lloyd would be there. Lloyd was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, and friend. We celebrate his wonderful life and many accomplishments and will always cherish the many happy memories he created.
