Lloyd West (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Lloyd Gene West, son of the late Lloyd T. and Irene (Williams) West, was born on August 11, 1944 in Springfield, MO, and departed this life on July 17, 2018 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO. At the time of his passing he was 73 years, 11 months, and 5 days of age.
Lloyd served his country in the US Army from 1968 to 1973. He spent one year in Frankfurt, Germany. After his service, he made his home in Fair Grove, MO, and went to work for Glen McCurry on April 1, 1971. The company later merged into Keltner Enterprise, where he retired from after 42 years. Gene enjoyed spending his free time camping and fishing in the Spring and Summer months but come fall he was ready for turkey and deer hunting with all the family. He also enjoyed sitting around in the evening and talking about the runs he had made that week, one of his many hunting stories, or the time the tornado passed in front of him on one of his Tulsa runs and how it rocked the trucks going down the road.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Keith; and his step-father, Cal Callentine. He is survived by Della of the home; his son, Lloyd West & wife Teresa of Pleasant Hope, MO; his daughter, Danita & husband John McNellis of Buffalo, MO; five grandchildren, Cheyanne, Tanigha and Breanna McNellis, Karissa West, and Chris West & fiancé Brittany; his sisters, Joann Thomas of IN, June Elliott of Bolivar, MO, Phyllis Coy of GA, and Diane Jones of GA; and one brother, Tommy of Marshfield, MO. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who will all truly miss him.
