Lodema "Jean" Maples (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Lodema "Jean" Maples, daughter of Ebbon Sylvester and Lucy Jane Beard Hambelton, was born October 19, 1933, in Stoutland, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, April 27, 2020, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, six months, and eight days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; several brothers and sisters, including Mary Lea Dyer.
Jean is survived by two daughters, Judy Williams, of Lebanon, Missouri and Nancy Mitchell of Los Angeles, California; a son, John Wilbanks, of Lebanon, Missouri; three granddaughters, Monica Dodson, Susan Wallace, and Ebboni Crain, all of Lebanon, Missouri; two grandsons, Johnnie Wilbanks, Jr., and David Wilbanks, both of Lebanon, Missouri; the grandchildren’s mother, Kitty Baker; several great-grandchildren as well as a host of friends.
She was raised in the Stoutland, Missouri community, and then lived in Lebanon and Springfield. She made her home in the Gainesville area for a number of years and worked as a cook at various nursing homes and in St. John’s Hospital. Later, she returned to Lebanon and enjoyed her retirement years.
She was active in the Hughes Senior Center in Lebanon and was in charge of organizing dances for several years. She was a member of a bowling league in Springfield for a time. She enjoyed being outdoors where her favorite activity was fishing. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Jean was a loving mother, grandmother, and a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will hold tight to the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
