Lois Bledsoe (Seymour)'s Obituary
Lois Fern Bledsoe, daughter of John Henry and Violette Cecil (Gerster) Moran was born on a snowy October 16, 1931 in Lowry City, Missouri. She departed this world in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri on December 13, 2012, at the age of eighty-one years, one month and twenty-seven days.
She was born and raised in St. Clair County. Lois cherished her childhood memories of weekends gathered at her grandparents. After the loss of her sister when she was 6, Lois became close to her cousins, relationships she held dear throughout her life. She was the valedictorian of Lowry City High School class of 1949. In the fall she met the love of her life, John Marvin Bledsoe at the High Hill Baptist Church. On December 25, 1949 the couple united in marriage and to this union four sons and three daughters were born.
In 1967, the family moved to the Seymour area and continued to flourish and grow. Lois loved to care for her family, reading stories to the children, cooking favorite meals and being the source of strength for her loved ones. After the passing of her husband John in 1975, Lois went to work for the Lee Apparel Company to provide for her family. She shared her nurturing heart there, praying for others as she worked to stitch belt loops. Lois had an open door, eat before you leave policy that made her house a home to many.
Lois devoted her life serving her Lord Jesus. She was a member of the High Hill Baptist Church, then transferring her membership to the First Baptist Church of Seymour. Her life was a living testament to her Savior; raising her children up in the Lord, providing for those who came to her doorstep, and putting others before herself. Tending to the garden, canning the harvest, mending or sewing quilts for a family or friend, Lois’ hands were never idle.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of twenty-five years, John Marvin Bledsoe; her grandson Rick David Sturdefant; her sister Ina Lucille Moran; 3 sisters-in-law and their spouses.
Lois is survived by her children, Ethel Strickland and husband Dennis, John Bledsoe and his wife Pat, Dennis Bledsoe, Daniel Bledsoe and his wife Pam, Patty Sturdefant and her husband Rick, James Bledsoe, all of Seymour, Missouri and Donna Daily and husband Greg of Fordland, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; 28 great- grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and her dear cousins; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Faith, an unconditional love, and a hope in the truth of our Savior Jesus Christ, Lois leaves a great legacy for those she loved. We will never forget the lessons, the laughter or the joy of going to “Grandma’s house”. Lois Fern (Moran) Bledsoe was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and a kind neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life, and take comfort in knowing one day we will meet again.
