Lois Denny's Obituary
Lois Margaret Denny, daughter of Parris and Alice Wallace Denny, was born December 9, 1925, in Wichita, Kansas. She departed this life Friday, October 24, 2008, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, ten months, and fifteen days. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert P. Denny; and a sister, Edith Lefler. Lois is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, including Judy Sitton, and her husband, Dean, of Lebanon, Missouri, and David Lefler, and his wife, Vicky, of Wichita, Kansas; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from North High School. She served her country faithfully in the United States Navy from November 12, 1948, until November 10, 1952. Lois studied at Kansas University where she earned her degree in aeronautical engineering. She began her career in aeronautics first, with the Boeing Company, where she worked on the B52 Bombers, and then with McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis, Missouri, Georgia, and later in Seattle, Washington for a time. She was a pioneer in the aviation industry and was instrumental in the development of the 747 aircraft. Lois was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club for many years. She enjoyed working with computers and also liked photography, having done some professional photography work at one time. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed her European tours. She was a generous and loving person who was always willing to help others and dearly loved her family. Lois will be fondly remembered for her influence in the aeronautical industry, her service to her country, and for her love of family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Services will be held On Saturday November 22, 2008 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Visitation will follow the service under the direction of the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Fair Haven Children's Home.
