Lois Spurrier's Obituary
Lois Irene Futch Spurrier was released from pain and suffering on September 1, 2012 at her home in Norwood, Missouri, after a forty-five year battle with a Polycystic Kidney Disease. Lois is at home with her Lord in that perfect heavenly home she always dreamed about.
She was one of eleven children born to James David Futch and Maudie Lelia Ratchford Futch in Wheeler County, Texas on March 30, 1925. She married Valton Hiram “Shorty” Sanders in October of 1941. They had two children, Shirley Dee Sanders Neuroth and Mackie Valton Sanders.
The summer of 1952 in Stratford, Texas, she accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at First Baptist Church by Rev. Buddy Upchurch. She taught “Sunbeams” and was very active in that fellowship.
Lois worked hard to help provide for her children. Cleanliness and beauty were important to her, the appearance of her home, children, and herself were her main priorities.
In her younger adult years, she was an employee of Bell Telephone and General Telephone Companies in Harlingen, Weslaco, and Perryton, Texas. She and Curtis Earl Spurrier were married in 1972. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, they bought and sold properties all over Missouri. Curtis died in a car accident in 1987. Lois’ primary interest since then has been buying and selling real estate.
For the past five and half years, Lois had made her home in her specially designed home at Norwood, Missouri with her daughter and son-in-law, W.D. and Shirley Neuroth.
Lois was preceded in death by her husbands, Valton Hiram “Shorty” Sanders, and Curtis Earl Spurrier; son Mackie Valton Sanders; her parents James David Futch and Maudie Lelia Ratchford Futch; three brothers, James David Futch, Jr., James Junior Futch, and Loyd Edward Futch; four sisters, Mozella Futch Mixon, Jessie Lea Futch Baird, Clydelia Futch Burress, and Odessa Mae Futch Harbison.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Dee Sanders Neuroth and husband William Darrell Neuroth, of the home, two grandsons, Frederick Darrell Neuroth and wife Jana of Norwood, Missouri, and William Dee Neuroth and wife Letha of Montgomery, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Carrie Dee Neuroth of Nevada, Missouri, William Channce Neuroth of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Alexandra Dee Neuroth, William Jacob Valton, and Garrett Conrad Neuroth, all of Montgomery, Texas; two sisters, Virginia Jane Gooch, of Pampa, Texas and Lilly Marene Bennett and husband Keith of Lindale, Texas; as well as a host of wonderful nieces and nephew; and Gail Robertson, an angel sent direct from our Heavenly Father as her personal caregiver.
Graveside services and burial were held at Springfield National Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri. Memorial donations may be made to the Mountain Grove First Baptist Church Library, and may be made through Holman-Howe at PO Box 236, Hartville, Missouri 65667.
