Lola Mae Brooks' Obituary
Lola Mae Brooks, daughter of Ennis W. and Maggie Elizabeth Fleming Wilkerson, was born June 10, 1926, in Pittsburg, Texas. She departed this life Sunday, October 11, 2009, in Christian Health Care North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, four months, and one day. On August 4, 1943, she was united in marriage to Thomas Henry Brooks, and to this union three daughters and two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas, on April 22, 2004; a brother, Ennis “Buddy” Wilkerson; and two sisters, Helen Morris, and her twin, Lora Faye White. Mae is survived by three daughters, Jeannie Benner, and her husband, Jeryl, of Pennsville, New Jersey, Jacquie Knapp, and her husband, Darrell, of Stoutland, Missouri, and Trish Brooks, and her friend, Don Beasley, of Richland, Missouri; two sons, Tom Brooks, Jr., and his wife, Nancy, of Richland, Missouri, and Mark Brooks, Sr., and his wife, Diane, of Republic, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Texas and then after she and Thomas were married, they moved to Missouri. They first made their home in the Dixon, Missouri area and then later in the Stoutland community. Throughout the years, Mae was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. Mae had attended the Stoutland United Methodist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, quilting, doing crossword puzzles, and reading. She also was a major fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. In her quieter moments she enjoyed watching the changing of the seasons. Her family was important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mae was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday October 14, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Stoutland Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday evening 7-8:30 p.m. under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Stoutland Cemetery Care fund.
