Lola M. Rook (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Lola Mae Rook, daughter of David Solomon and Fay Kern Starnes, was born May 11, 1928, near Drynob, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, November 2, 2021, in Lake Regional Hospital, in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of ninety-three years, five months, and twenty-two days.
On October 5, 1951, she was united in marriage to William O. “Short” Rook and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Short, on June 3, 1999; and two brothers, Marlin Starnes and Dave Starnes, Jr.
Lola is survived by a daughter, Vicki Lynn Rook Crocker, and her husband, Jerry, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, William David Rook, of Lebanon, Missouri; two grandchildren, Lindsay Anne Crocker, and Jonathan M. Cano, and his wife, Dawn; three great-grandsons, Dawson, Preston, and Harrison Cano; a brother, Dennis Starnes, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Ruth Ann Starnes Zymm, of Chicago, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Drynob area and graduated from Lebanon High School. After she and Short were married, they made their home near Lebanon and lovingly raised their family. Lola was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family throughout the years. Lola and Short owned and operated Sunnyview Store from 1969 to the mid 1980s when they retired.
Lola made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was an active member of Community Baptist Church. She loved her church and her church family and friends.
She built her life around caring for her family and her home. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandsons.
Lola was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that she will be greatly missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her.
A memorial has been established to Community Baptist Church and may be left at the funeral home.
