Loma Williams' Obituary
Loma Iletta Williams, daughter of Homer R. and Amy Johnnie-Alice Calton Garrett, was born March 28, 1923, near Orla, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, June 5, 2007, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, two months, and seven days. On January 29, 1944, she was united in marriage to Henry Floyd Williams, and to this union three daughters and three sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd, on January 13, 1986; two great-granddaughters, Cassie and Madyson; and two sisters, Lois Harper, and Mary Newton. Loma is survived by three sons, Jerry Williams, and his wife, Diana, of Lebanon, Missouri, Garry Williams, and his wife, Maggie Rose, of Springfield, Missouri, and Darrell Williams, of Lebanon, Missouri; three daughters, Patricia Andersen, and her husband, Dean, of Lebanon, Missouri, Peggy Nelson, of Columbia, Missouri, and Phylecia Lynn Roberts, of Springfield, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; a sister, Laura Griffin, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Iva Keesling, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was raised in Laclede County and graduated from Phillipsburg High School. After she and Floyd were married, they made their home in the Grovespring and Lebanon areas and lovingly raised their children. Throughout her life, Loma was a devoted and hardworking homemaker to her husband and family. Loma made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and attended the Southern Heights Christian Church for the last twenty years. She loved her Lord and enjoyed reading the Bible daily. She liked working puzzles, reading, doing embroidery and crocheting, and also created beautiful handmade quilts. She did canning of lots fruits and vegetables and made delicious breads. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Loma was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Roper Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials to the Roper Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund may be made through the funeral home.
