Lonnie Massey (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Lonnie Gene Massey, son of Clifford L. and Ada McBride Massey, was born May 17, 1949, in Grovespring, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, May 16, 2019, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-nine years, eleven months, and thirty days.
On June 2, 2018, he was united in marriage to Sandra E. Mizer, with whom he had shared the last thirty-three years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Darrell Massey; and three brothers-in-law, Sam Evans, Charley Smithey, and Bob Jones.
Lonnie is survived by his wife, Sandra, of the home; three daughters, Tammy Nelson, and her husband, Larry, of Grovespring, Missouri, Krista Lowrance, and her husband, Scott, and Cindy Barnes, and her fiancé, Kevin Keagy, all of Lebanon, Missouri; four sons, Jeremy Massey, and his wife, Sarah, of Conway, Missouri, Richard Massey, and his wife, Jennifer, Nathan Barnes, and his fiancée, Shayla Headley, and Jason Barnes, and his wife, Mackenzie, all of Lebanon, Missouri; twenty-two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tommy Massey, and his wife, Beverly, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Denny Massey, and his wife, Sue, of Morgan, Missouri; four sisters, Beulah Smithey, Shirlene Jones, of Kansas City, Missouri, Janet Scott, and Linda Evans, both of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the Grovespring community, and attended Gardner School. He then graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1967. He worked for the H. D. Lee Company for over thirty years, and then was employed by Detroit Tool Metal Products for ten years.
Lonnie was saved as a child, followed the Baptist faith and recently rededicated his life to Christ.
He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team and greatly enjoyed fishing at Bennett Spring State Park. He liked being outdoors and shared his love of fishing with his grandchildren. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lonnie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he created for them during his lifetime.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
