Lorene Mikkelsen's Obituary
Lorene Bertha Mikkelsen, age 90, Atherton Place, Marietta, Georgia passed away on Monday, January 5, 2009 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. She was born August 27, 1918 in Greene County, Missouri to Jesse J. Keeling and Chloe Locke Keeling. She grew up on a farm outside of Bolivar, Missouri. She was a nurse by education and was in the first class of Married Stewardesses of Trans World Airline (TWA) just after the beginning of WWII. Her husband, Silas, was a Pan American Pilot and after their marriage they lived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for eight years. She spent 49 years in Coral Gables, Florida where she raised her family. She moved to Atherton Place in 1998 after her husband's death. While there she made many friends and she very much enjoyed the last eleven years. She was a great Mom and will be missed by her friends and the staff at Atherton Place. She was preceded in death by her husband; Silas Mikkelsen on February 7, 1997 and a son; Dane Mikkelsen. She is survived by her son; Scott Mikkelsen and his wife Emily of Woodstock, Georgia, a daughter-in-law; Birdie Mikkelsen, two grandsons; Daniel Mikkelsen and his wife Amy, Kris Mikkelsen and his wife Lisa, and one great grandson; Luke Joannes Mikkelsen. Graveside services will be held at 3:30pm, Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Bolivar, Missouri with Reverend Gary Ankrom officiating under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri. Visitation will be from 2-3pm, Saturday prior to service time before going to the cemetery at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Scott Mikkelsen, Daniel Mikkelsen, Kris Mikkelsen, David Cribbs, Darrol Cribbs and Jim Keeling.
