Lorene Waters (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Lorene Oma Waters, daughter of William Fredrick and Grace Edna Ray Schweitzer, was born April 23, 1923, in Hugoton, Kansas. She departed this life Tuesday, July 2, 2019, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-six years, two months, and nine days.
On February 9, 1946, she was united in marriage to Loran Waters, and they shared thirty-eight years before his passing on April 1, 1984.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, David Paul Waters; and a grandson, Russell Edward Helms.
Lorene is survived by three daughters, Wilma Swartzlander, and her husband, Ron, of Lebanon, Missouri, Dorothy Renfro, and her husband, Freddie, of Avon Park, Florida, and Mary Sloan, and her husband, Chris, of Lebanon, Missouri; three sons, Dale Waters, and his wife, Tina, of Lynchburg, Missouri; Larry Waters, and Gene Trudgeon, both of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Denver Schweitzer, and his wife, Betty, of the State of Indiana; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Kansas and Colorado, and then moved with her family to Lebanon, Missouri, just before the Depression. She continued to make her home here for the rest of her life. After she and Loran were married, they made their home in the house where Lorene lived for seventy years. Lorene was a devoted homemaker and a loving mother to her family, and also worked at the Rice Stix Factory, Appleby Boats, and the H. D. Lee Company throughout the years.
Lorene was a charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and served in various ways within her church. Her faith was always at the center of her life along with her family.
She enjoyed being outdoors where her favorite activities were fishing and camping. She liked going to yard sales. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren whenever she could.
Lorene was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her ninety-six years.
Memorial donations to Hillcrest Baptist Church may be made through the funeral home.
