Rev. Lorn Franklin Russell (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Lorn Franklin Russell, age 83, passed away at his home on December 11, 2022. He was the husband to Mary and they shared fifty-eight years together.
Lorn was born at home outside of Bolivar, MO on January 25, 1939 to Frank and Bessie Russell. He graduated in 1955 from Pleasant Hope High School. He retired from foundry work due to being disabled for twenty-eight years.
He belonged to Slagle Missionary Baptist church and preached at several different locations throughout Missouri. He served in the Army from 1961-1963. He loved to serve God and was proud of his belief. He loved to fish and spend time with his family. He will be remembered for being strict but also having a great sense of humor. He always caught the most fish. He was loved very much and will be deeply missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leo.
He is survived by his wife, Mary and their three children Daniel Russell of the home, Sharon Penrod of Sparta, and Betty Fisher of Marion, Illinois; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.. He fought a courageous fight with his paralysis for twenty-eight long years.
Services for Lorn will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 16, 2022 at the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the time of service starting at 1:00 P.M. Interment along with military honors will be at the New Bethel Cemetery following the service.
