Lorna M. Chaney (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Lorna Maye Chaney, daughter of Marvin J. and Ellen V. Adams, was born August 27, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa. She departed this life Monday, March 29, 2021, in the care of her family in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty years, seven months, and two days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Edwin and Myrtle Adams; a grandson, Ryan; a great-grandson, Gavin; two brothers, Marvin J. Adams, Jr. and Glen Adams; and a sister, Beverly Houston.
Lorna is survived by three daughters, Laurie Parten, and her husband, Phil, of Henderson, Tennessee, Suzie Dennis, and her husband, Ron, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Jaclyn Chaney, of Springfield, Missouri; a son, Curtis Owen, and his wife, Lori, of St. Thomas, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, Melissa, Christopher, Jonathan, Jesse, Shelley, Steven, Aaron, Adam, Connie, Christa, Stephanie, Melony, Megan, and Jessica; a number of great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; a very special friend, other daughter, Emily Piland; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Iowa and received her education there. She then lived in Kansas for a few years before moving to Missouri where she made her home for most of her life. She did live in Colorado for nine years before retiring back to Missouri. Through the years, Lorna worked as a graphic designer for various companies and also was a devoted homemaker to her family.
Lorna accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior early in her life and considered Community Baptist Church in Lebanon as her church home. She greatly enjoyed singing for churches and revivals throughout her life.
She liked crocheting and painting in her spare time and her primary love was caring for her family and her home. Her faith and her family were always the center of her life and she especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren.
Lorna was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021,in Holman-Howe Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Reeves and Valerie Howe officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Thursday.
A Memorial has been established and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
The family is requesting masks be worn at the service.
