Lorraine Helen Brethower (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Born Lorraine Helen Deeds, youngest child of Ray and Elsie Deeds Oct 9, 1934, passed August 22, 2023.
Born into the heart of the dustbowl during the great depression, Lorraine was a woman with great faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
"Do not dismay, do not affright, in God alone all things sufficient" - Elsie Deeds. A note sent with her oldest brother as he joined the battle in Europe during WWII was a prized possession.
Following high school graduation in Bird City, KS, she earned a Teaching certificate from Ft. Hayes State College in Kansas.
Then married high school sweetheart Verle Dean Brethower, August 21, 1955. This union gave the young couple four sons the following five years. The youngest son, Russell, born in Buffalo, MO where Dean and Lorraine lived the rest of their lives together.
Preceded in death by husband Dean, brothers Wayne, Harold and Don, sister Carol Brubaker.
Survived by brother Ed Deeds, sons Larry, Doug, Rod and Russ, their wives Paula, Ann, Dorcas and Lori. Grandchildren Logan and Kelsey Brethower, Luke and Lee Brethower, Ashley Pomeroy, Clay and Madisen Crouch, Nate Brethower, Hanna Brethower, Kyle and Megan Brethower, Stuart and Katherine Brethower, Jeff and Jaclyn Vanderbilt.
Great grandchildren Dylan and Caden Brethower, Jackson and Hudson Pomeroy, Emma Brethower, Camden Brethower, Elliot and Emilia Vanderbilt.
Her sweet smile and fresh baked cookies will be sorely missed by family, other relatives and the many friends she welcomed into her home over the years.
Services September 29, 2023, 2 PM at Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield where she will once again join Dean - this time in eternity. All who knew her are invited to join in celebration of a life well lived from 4-7 pm that evening at Three Moons Winery, 64 Potters Road, Buffalo, MO.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home, Buffalo.
