Lotus Ruble's Obituary
otus Jewell Ruble, son of Lannie Joseph and Ruth Velma Myers Ruble, was born March 8, 1935, near Brownfield, in Laclede County, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, February 24, 2008, in his home, in Phillipsburg, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, eleven months, and sixteen days. On August 3, 1965, he was united in marriage to Asako S. Sakuda, and together they shared the last forty-two years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, LaDon J. Ruble, and Lenora J. Pfeifle. Lotus is survived by his loving wife, Asako, of the home; three brothers, Leaun J. Ruble, and his wife, Wilma, of Lebanon, Missouri, Leo J. Ruble, and his wife, Mary, of Falcon, Missouri, and Leaton J. Ruble, and his wife, Susan, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Leota Pace, of Lebanon, Missouri, and LeEtta Williams, and her husband, Burvel, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Kazumi Higashi; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. He was born and raised in the Crossroads community in Laclede County. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy for over twenty years, and was stationed in Okinawa Naval Base in Japan for some time, where he met and married, Asako. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he and Asako made their home in the Phillipsburg community. For the last several years, Lotus had dealt in antiques, buying, doing refurbishing work and selling. Lotus had made his profession of belief in Christ and followed the Baptist faith throughout his life. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post in Naha, Okinawa. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing when he could, but most of his time was spent collecting, buying and selling depression era glassware. Lotus was a loving husband, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 29, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Crossroads Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
