Louis Ernest Matney (Seymour)'s Obituary
Louis Ernest Matney, son of Ernest and Florence (Coville) Matney, was born June 20, 1949, in Springfield, Missouri, and departed this life Thursday, November 11, 2010, in his home in Seymour, Missouri, at the age of sixty-one years, four months and twenty-two days.
On October 10, 2009, he was united in marriage to his companion of fourteen years, Kathy Lea Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Pearl; a brother, Terry Matney; a sister, Rose Matney; and a step-son, Joseph Lansdown.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy, of the home; a son, Louis “Buddy” Matney, of Seymour, Missouri; a daughter, Patty Morton and her husband, Bill, of Mansfield, Missouri; three step-children, Brandy Jackson and her husband, Willie, of Seymour, Missouri, James Clark and his wife, Kellie, and Nathan Clark and his wife, Jennifer, all of Ava, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; six brothers, William Matney and his wife, Deena and Albert Matney, and his wife, Martha, all of Mansfield, Missouri, Pete Matney and his wife, Sherry, Harry Matney and his wife, Robin, and Denzil Matney, all of Seymour, Missouri and Larry Matney, of Lebanon, Missouri; four sisters, Mae Keilbarth and June Thulin and husband, Dewayne, all of Seymour, Missouri, Martha Ann Matney and Sharon Kay Robinson, both of Ava, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as a well as a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Louis grew up in Webster County, Missouri, and was a veteran of the United States Army. He had retired from Hutchens Steel Processors in Seymour, where he was a forklift operator and did various other jobs. He also owned his own backhoe service.
He made his profession of faith in God and he and Kathy attended the Seymour Freewill Baptist Church.
In his spare time, he loved to tinker with old tractors and owned several tractors, and enjoyed putting up hay for his family and friends.
Louis was a loving husband, father, stepfather, brother and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the memories he created for his family and many friends.
