Louise Day (Hartville)'s Obituary
Louise Thompson Day, daughter of William C. Thompson and Laura Latimer Thompson, was born October 26, 1926. She departed this life Monday afternoon February 19, 2018 in Poplar Bluff Missouri, at the age of ninety one years, three months, and twenty-four days.
On October 18, 1980, Louise was united in marriage to Clyde Day and were together until his passing on May 19, 1997.
Louise is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; her parents, William and Laura; two sisters, Birdeen Thompson and Rosa Lena Sitzes; and a brother, Barda Thompson.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Vonda Gayle Davis of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; her son, Rex Lee Mullendore of Gallatin, Tennessee; nine grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild; two nieces; three nephews; other relatives, and caring friends.
Louise was born in Sikeston, Missouri and was raised in the Sikeston-Miner area. She was involved with many different community organizations, including, the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 4249 of Charleston, Missouri, the Board of Trustees for the city of Miner, and she was the secretary for the planning and zoning board of the city of Miner as well.
Louise had many different hobbies that she enjoyed to keep her busy. She liked to decorate her home from time to time, as well as scouting out yard sales to find that perfect piece. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles to keep her brain moving. Louise also loved to write and read poetry as well as read her Bible regularly. She also had a modest collection of dolls that she took care of and maintained. Most importantly, Louise loved her family dearly. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and caring friend. We celebrate her life and many accomplishments and will always cherish the many happy memories she helped create.
Memorial contributions to Coon Creek Cemetery, may be made at the funeral home.
