Louise Marie Smallwood (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Louise Marie Smallwood, daughter of Albert and Doretha Scott Heinold, was born September 11, 1938, in Topeka, Kansas. She departed this life Tuesday, May 10, 2011, in Christian Health Care North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, seven months, and twenty-nine days.
On May 23, 1954, she was united in marriage to Norman Glen Smallwood, and to this union three daughters and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman, in June of 1996; and a brother, Robert Heinold.
Louise is survived by three daughters, Teresa Gore, and her husband, David, Loretta Lucas, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Jo Maguire and Doug Wilmert, of St. Louis, Missouri; two sons, Rick Smallwood, and his wife, Jeanie, of Richland, Missouri, Jim Smallwood, and his wife, Karen, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Heinold, of Sedalia, Missouri; three sisters, Mary Ann Upton, of Odebot, Iowa, Frances Ice, of Yellville, Arkansas, and Bertie Ice, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Elk Creek, Missouri area, and graduated from high school in Houston, Missouri. After she and Norman were married, they made their home in Willow Springs and Elk Creek, where they purchased the family farm, and lovingly raised their children. Later, the family moved to Mountain Grove, Missouri, and then to Lebanon in the 1970’s. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her family, Louise also worked as a supervisor at Tan-Tar-A Resort.
Louise was confirmed into the Lutheran Church in Willow Springs, Missouri.
In her spare time she enjoyed looking for antiques and visiting flea markets. She also liked working in her garden. She was very proud of her German ancestry and enjoyed exploring her family history and pictures. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed caring for her grandchildren.
Louise was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
