Loverna B. Claxton Jones (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Loverna Bell Claxton Jones, daughter of Jerry Franklin and Mabel Gertrude Musgrave Bennett, was born June 30, 1920, near Nebo, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, June 2, 2017, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-six years, eleven months, and two days.
On December 4, 1937, she was united in marriage to Charlie C. Claxton, and to this union two daughters and one son were born. Charlie passed away on March 19, 1979.
On August 19, 1986, she was married to Laney Jones and they shared five years before his passing on November 17, 1991.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Bonnie West; a grandson, Stephen Lawson; two brothers, Clarence and Linden Bennett; and a sister, Wyona Elam.
Loverna is survived by a daughter, Betty Coryell, and her husband, Stanley, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Donald Claxton, and his wife, Teresa, of Lebanon, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Robert, Richard, Angie, Sarah, Tracey, Laurie, and Robin; nineteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Rosalie (Nelson) Copeland, of Kansas City, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Nebo community. After she and Charlie were married, they made their home in Lebanon and lovingly raised their family. Through the years, Loverna was a devoted homemaker to her husband and children. She later continued to make her home in Lebanon after she and Laney were married.
Loverna made her profession of faith in Christ at the age of eleven and joined the Winnipeg Christian Church near Nebo.
In her spare time she enjoyed making quilts, growing beautiful flowers, and going to rummage and yard sales with her special friends, Virginia and Joni. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Loverna was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her ninety-six years.
