On December 22, 1955, she was united in marriage to Eugene Brown, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene, on July 15, 2013; three brothers, Lowell, Lowen, and Leland Richardson; and nieces, Jennifer and Janet Doing.
Loveta is survived by a daughter, Marsha Keenan, and her husband, Dale, of Marshfield, Missouri; two sons, Kent Brown, and his wife, Joann, and Mike Brown, and his wife, Mary, all of Long Lane, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Matthew Brown, and his wife, Sunila, Nathan Brown, Kelby Keenan, and his wife, Amanda, Camron Keenan, and his wife, Alex, Miranda Rust, and her husband, Tel, Ryan Brown, and his wife, Mila, Lindsey Weigand, and her husband, Travis, and Haley Brown; ten great-grandchildren, Dru and Roy Brown, Emma and Avery Keenan, Harper and Cora Keenan, Kolton Rust, Ace and Evan Brown, and Wyatt Weigand; a sister, Lela Doing, and her husband, Dave, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Doris Faust, of Longwood, Florida, and Nadine Richardson, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; her dear friend from childhood, Fern Welch; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised near Lebanon and graduated from Phillipsburg High School and attended college with her sister at Southwest Baptist University. After she and Gene were married, they made their home in Competition, and Loveta taught school for six years. She taught at Upper O’Dell, Fincher, Ivy and Competition Schools. She then became a devoted homemaker and loving mother to her husband and family. In 1970, the family moved to their farm near Long Lane, and Loveta worked beside Gene to build up their farm and their lives together.
Loveta was a strong Christian woman and attended Lee’s Summit Church of Christ from a very young age. She was baptized in 1946, by Lynwood Smith, and being a Christian was her top priority in life, putting God before everything else. Her Bible was worn out from the years of studying it and she passed along her strength to her family.
She was an amazing cook and loved making meals for her family. She had a green thumb and enjoyed planting a garden each year with Gene. She also grew many beautiful flowers. She loved birds and enjoyed watching and feeding them. When she got to where she couldn’t walk, she would drive her car up under the tree to fill her bird feeders. She loved her family dearly and having time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always put a smile upon her face.
Loveta was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
A memorial to the New Hope Cemetery Care Fund has been established and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
