Lowell Dean Olson (Humansville)'s Obituary
Lowell Olson, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born on February 26, 1942, at his family home in Agar, South Dakota, the son of Arthur and Leona Olson. He met the love of his life while attending high school in Humansville, Missouri. Lowell and Arta were married in 1961, one year after graduation. Their love for each other endured, and they celebrated 62 years of marriage before Arta’s passing in 2023. Lowell’s love for her was as strong upon his passing as it was the day they were married. A gifted mechanic, Lowell supported our nation’s defense in the United States Air Force as a missile technician at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, and later in New Jersey. He served our country honorably before moving on to pursue other goals for himself and his growing family. Driven by his love of farming, Lowell brought his family to Lathrop in 1971, where he would eventually build the house and farm that would serve as the Olson family home for almost 50 years. Expanding the farm throughout his lifetime, Lowell enjoyed adopting innovative farming techniques and sharing the knowledge gained from his successes with others. Lowell loved the community of Lathrop, where he was an early supporter of the Antique Show Grounds. He especially enjoyed showcasing his award-winning 1952 Hudson Commodore 6 at the annual car show after spending years carefully restoring it to its original beauty. Lowell lived a life that inspired his children and set an example for all who knew him, teaching about farming, commitment to family, and the value of hard work. He will be deeply missed. Lowell is survived by his children, Teresa Collier (Mike), Cheryl (Alex), and Craig (Deborah); and by his grandchildren, Ryan Lane (Jasmine), Derrick Lane (Rachael), Meredith Collier (Mathew), Meg Marek (Przemek), Evan Collier (Ali), Olivia Nosal (Jonathan), Andrew Olson, and Alexander Olson. He was the proud great-grandfather of Harrison and Amelia Lane; Finnegan and Magdalena Conger; Gio and Sebastian Nosal; Serafina Marek; and Olive and Violet Collier. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home in Humansville. Graveside services will be held at 11:15 AM on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Humansville Cemetery.
