Lowell Skinner's Obituary
Lowell Dwane Skinner, son of Charles Lee and Grace Calhoun Skinner, was born July 6, 1929 on his family’s farm near Norwood, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, August 28, 2008 in his home near Hartville at the age of seventy-nine years, one month, and twenty-two days. On May 18, 1951, Lowell was united in marriage to Evelyn Pauline Edwards and to this union two sons and two daughters were born. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Pauline of the home; his four children, Linda Fraker of Kingston, Arkansas, Gene Skinner and his wife Nancy of Willard, Missouri, Jim Skinner and his wife Julie of Springfield, Missouri, and Debbie Martin and her husband Kevin, of Hartville, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Brandi Ridings and her husband James, Nancy Eastburn and her husband Matt, Erin Conard and her husband Michael, Justin Skinner and his wife Kendra, Melissa Skinner, Emily Skinner, Sarah Skinner, Rebecca Skinner, Levi Skinner, and Bailey Martin; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pansy Shannon and Norma Spurlock, both of Lebanon, Missouri; two brothers, Troy Skinner of Bolivar, Missouri and Dean Skinner and his wife Elma Jo of Simi Valley, California; numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Lowell spent most of his younger years living on the family farm near Norwood and attended the Tharpe School. He worked on the family farm until going to work at Se-Ma-No Electric. After he and Pauline were married, they settled on their farm where they did dairy work and lovingly raised their family. Lowell also worked as an ASCS Crop Adjuster for the USDA for twenty-three years. Lowell was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge #226 as well as many other community activities. He had accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was a member of the Hartville Freewill Baptist Church for over forty years. He also served on the church’s General Board. Lowell loved to go fishing for crappie and was an excellent story teller. He loved watching his children and grandchildren playing ball and in his spare time liked to play checkers. He also enjoyed singing and listening to bluegrass music. Lowell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday August 31, 2008 at the Hartville Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Steele Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday evening 6-8:00 pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Hartville, Missouri. Return to top
