Lowell Warren Sikes' Obituary
Lowell “Warren” Sikes, son of Lowell Dwain and Pauline Orlena (Barton) Sikes, was born November 13, 1943, in Springfield, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, February 29, 2008, in his home, near Seymour, at the age of sixty-four years, three months, and sixteen days. On December 31, 1987 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Lou Woodruff and together they have spent the last twenty years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Betty Ann Sikes. Warren is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie, of the home; two brothers, Kenneth Sikes, and his wife, Janice, of Springfield, Missouri, and Joe Sikes, and his wife, Louise, of Seymour, Missouri; a sister, Helen Snelson, and her husband, Wayne, of Seymour, Missouri; a special uncle, John Sikes, of Columbia, Missouri; his mother and father-in-law, Orin and Geneva Woodruff, of Fordland, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Denzle Woodruff, and his wife, Barbara, of Seymour, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Connie Dishman, of Hartville, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. He was born in Springfield and lived in Mansfield until moving to Seymour with his family when he was in third grade. He attended Seymour schools and graduated from Seymour High School in the class of 1961. In 1963 he entered the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1969 and returned to Seymour, where he worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation as maintenance supervisor for the Seymour location and retired in l999. Warren had accepted Christ as his Savior in the final days of his life. In his spare time he enjoyed working in his garden, fishing, and hunting and in his younger years he loved team roping. Warren was a loving husband, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, and nephew and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri. Return to top
