Loyd Dean Henson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Loyd Dean Henson, son of Oscar and Ressie Hicks Henson, was born May 30, 1948, near Conway, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, October 31, 2020, in his home, near Phillipsburg, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, five months, and one day.
On June 5, 1968, he was united in marriage to Donna Fay King, and to this union one son was born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bobby Gene Henson.
“Dude”, as he was called by his family and friends, is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Donna, of the home; a son, Ed Henson, and his fiancée. Nae, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; four grandchildren, Corey Henson, and his wife, Samantha, Sam Henson, Levi Henson, and Hannah Henson; a great-grandson, Payton; three brothers, Roy Lee Henson, of Chico, California, Ray Henson, and his wife, Jean, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Glen Henson, and his wife, Carol, of Marshfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Conway area and graduated from Conway High School. He entered the military as a young man, and served his country faithfully in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for part of his time in the service. He returned to the Conway area, and began working at Independent Stave Company in Lebanon, which is now Missouri Cooperage. Once he and Donna were married, they made their home on a farm in the Phillipsburg community and lovingly raised their son. Dude worked for Regal Beloit for twenty-five years before retiring. He continued to own and operate his farm throughout his life.
Loyd had attended the Harmony Baptist Church through the years.
He greatly enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing, camping, and cutting wood. He liked traveling and playing games with his family. He enjoyed working on his son and grandson’s race cars and serving as a mechanic and pitman. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his great-grandson, Payton.
Dude was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will hold tight to the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
