Lucille Bond Johnson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Lucille Bond Johnson, daughter of George W. and Chloe E. Simpson Bond, was born September 17, 1927, near Competition, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, June 22, 2012, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, nine months, and five days.
On May 15, 1948, she was united in marriage to Thomas Darwin Johnson, and to this union one daughter was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Darwin, of June 19, 1989.
Lucille is survived by a daughter, JoNel Cisco, and her husband, Jim, of St. Robert Missouri; two grandchildren T. J. Sapko, III, and Payton Chloe Sapko; several cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Competition community, and graduated from Competition High School. She taught school for a few years at the Delto and Gardner Schools. She then moved to Bolivar where she graduated from Bolivar College. After she and Darwin were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area, and lovingly raised their daughter. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and daughter, Lucille also worked as a teller at State Bank for several years, and later purchased The Sport Shop in downtown Lebanon. She also helped her husband in the operation of Johnson Furniture Store when she had time.
Lucille was a longtime member of Antioch Baptist Church and then transferred her membership to First Baptist Church in Lebanon.
In her spare time she enjoyed working in her garden and growing beautiful flowers. She also helped care for her mother for several years. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed spending time with her daughter and grandchildren.
Lucille was a loving mother, grandmother, and cousin, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
