Lucy Banks' Obituary
Lucy MaeBell Banks, daughter of Jessie and Bessie Mae (Dobbins) Small was born March 5, 1931, in Hickoria, Arkansas. She departed this life Saturday, October 10, 2009, in her home in Seymour, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years, seven months and five days. On December 21, 1946, she was united in marriage to Norman Hueston Banks, and to this union three children were born. Norman preceded her in death on October 4, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack Small and Mentrial Small; two sisters, Opal Howell and Hazel French; a brother-in-law, Leonard Banks; and two sisters-in-law, Maxine Lamoureux and Gwen Hosiner. Lucy is survived by a daughter, Sheila Rhodes and her husband, Travis, of Seymour, Missouri; two sons, Eddie Banks and his wife, Debbie, of Wahoo, Nebraska, and Sterling Banks and his wife, Diane, of Seymour, Missouri; six grandchildren, Stacy Walter and her companion, Jermey Napier, Melissa Roets and her husband, Tom, Dustin Banks and his wife, Echo, Krystal Cantrell and her husband, Carlie, Lyn Harris and her husband, Shaun, and Scot Banks; several great-grandchildren; three brothers, Junior Small and his wife, Sharon, of Rector, Arkansas, Charlie Small and his wife, Christine, and John Small, all of Corning, Arkansas; two sisters-in-law, Bettie Small , of Rector, Arkansas, and Johnnie Sue Banks, of Seymour, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Jed Lamoureux, of Norwood, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. She grew up in Arkansas and had lived in Illinois where she worked for the Nylint Toy Factory in Rockford, and had also lived in Louisiana, Missouri, where she worked for Louisiana Plastics. She and Norman made their home in the Seymour, Missouri, area in l971 where they operated the Conoco Station and delivered milk for the Jo-Lynn Dairy. Lucy had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a member of the Seymour Church of Christ. In her spare time she enjoyed doing embroidery and crocheting. She always grew a garden with vegetables and beautiful flowers. Lucy was a wonderful cook and always made special meals for her family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the lights of her life and she cherished the time she could spend with them. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the special memories she created for all those who knew and loved her. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday October 13, 2009 in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery.
