Luther Eldon Wallace (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Luther Eldon Wallace, son of Augusta Jewell Wallace-Lansdown, was born September 7, 1942 in Douglas County, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, April 25, 2012, in Christian Health Care South, Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-nine years, seven months, and eighteen days.
Luther was preceded in death by his mother; wife, Viona; daughter, Karen Henry; and a brother, Eugene Lansdown.
He is survived by his children, Leroy Wallace and wife Jennifer of Lebanon, Missouri, Norma Lewis and husband Bobby of Lebanon, Missouri, Ricky Wallace and wife Alice of Mansfield, Missouri, Albert Wallace of Lebanon, Missouri, and Terry McIntosh and wife Missy of Woodward, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Bob Lansdown and wife Linda of Rockport, Missouri, Wanda Hampshire and husband Bill of Mansfield, Missouri, Sam Lansdown and wife Linda of Rockport, Missouri, James Lansdown and wife Sherry of Rockport, Missouri, and Susie Shaw and husband Jerrill of Glenwood, Iowa; a special friend, Dolly Mings of Mountain Grove, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews, along with a host of other relatives and many friends.
Luther was born in Douglas County and spent his younger years there. He lived in Rockport, Missouri for a while before moving to Mansfield in the early 1970’s to make his home.
He had accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of the Wolf Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
Luther enjoyed listening to country and bluegrass music and attended many singings and dances throughout the area. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Luther was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and many friends.
