Lyle Garretson (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Lyle Lee Garretson (Buster) passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America after fighting a courageous battle that touched many lives.
He was born on September 16, 1940 to Harold L. Garretson and Mary Lee (Dunn) Garretson. He was preceded in death by his father - Harold Garretson, his sister - Millie Garretson-McCain, and two brothers - Buddy Garretson and Jim Garretson.
He married Sharron Kay Scurlock on September 3, 1966. He is survived by his mother - Mary Garretson, his wife - Kay Garretson, his son - Greg Garretson, his two daughters - Trudi Carlson and Staci Wendland, his grandchildren - Zachary Snow, Britnie Garretson, Tanner Wendland, Hunter Garretson, Dayne Wendland, Kyle Wendland, Josh, Chris and Brandon Carlson, and many other cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Buster was baptized when he was 16 years old and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bolivar. Buster and Kay took ownership of Garretson Trash Service in 1970 following in his father’s direction. He was proud to support and promote local business, and the families in which he employed and treated as his own.
He also has owned and operated Cedar Hill Farms. He loved being around the cattle and felt most at home on the farm. Buster’s strength, courage, determination, and character is unforgettable. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and care-givers.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Butler Chapel in Bolivar.
A Celebration of Buster’s life will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Loy officiating. Music will be provided by David and Jean Vincent, and Mike Stephens. Musical selections will be “Amazing Grace” and “Going Up Home To Live In Green Pastures”. Casketbearers will be Rick Earnest, Jeff Earnest, David Garretson, J. R. Garretson, Joe Garretson, John Garretson and Mike Garretson. Honorary Casketbearers will be Ed Gorden, Tony Payne, Jerry Garretson, Steve Garretson, Bob Gothard, Harold Condron and Dale Dunn. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar with Full Military Honors conducted by the AMVETS Post #114, Fleminton, MO. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar.
