Lynn Cole's Obituary
Lynn Raines Cole, son of Champ Clark and Bessie Marie (Rippee) Cole, was born July 27, 1941, near Ava, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, July 22, 2009, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-seven years, eleven months, twenty-five days. On October 14, 1961, he was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Radcliff and to this union one daughter and two sons were born. He was preceded in death by his father; his step-father, Robert Mercer; a son-in-law, Joe Elliot; and a brother, George M. Cole. Lynn is survived by his loving wife, Shirley, of the home; his mother, Bessie Mercer, of Seymour, Missouri; two sons, Randy Cole, and his wife Diane, and Jeff Cole, all of Wichita, Kansas; a daughter, Terri Elliott, of Keystone Heights, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Dieken, of Seymour, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Jamie Converse, Joey Converse, Jadan Cole, Jyntre Hephner, Tiffany Youngblood, Hailey Elliott, Alyssa Elliott, and Savannah Lynn; nine great-grandchildren, Hannah, Anthony, Cameron, Mason, Madison, Dakota, Kinsley, Chambre`, and Austin; a sister, Wanda Wilkins, and her husband Howard, of Seymour, Missouri; a nephew, Daron Wilkins, and his wife Kim, of Seymour, Missouri; a niece, Tanda Patterson, and her husband Rick, of Seymour, Missouri; his great-nieces and nephews, Whitney Keith, Morgan, Noah, Aspen, and Brooklyn Wilkins, Mia Simmonds, Breann and Micah Patterson; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. He was born near Ava and moved with his family at the age of seven to Wichita, Kansas. He served his country faithfully with the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. After being honorably discharged, he owned and operated a military aircraft ground support equipment company. He had worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Sedgwick County, Kansas, and also worked with the Kansas Child Protective Services. In 1991 he moved to Seymour, Missouri, and served many years as deputy and an administrative assistant to Sheriff Ron Worsham in Webster County. Lynn had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Little Finley Bible Chapel, south of Seymour. He was also a member of the Toast Masters, Kiwanis, and American Society for Quality Control. He was a people person and was very active in youth activities, including youth boxing programs. In his spare time he enjoyed taking walks, fishing, and loved singing. Lynn was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and great-uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday July 25, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral home in Seymour. Burial will be in the Turkey Creek Cemetery. Visitation is Friday evening 7-8:00pm under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Seymour, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the cancer support home or to the family.
