M. Jennings' Obituary
M. Louise Jennings, daughter of William T. and Nettie M. (Meise) Puryear, was born May 6, 1921 in Seymour, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, December 14, 2010 in Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour at the age of eighty-nine years, seven months, and eight days.
On October 26, 1940 Louise was united in marriage to Harry E. Jennings and to this union a son and daughter were born. They shared thirty-seven wonderful years before his passing on July 28, 1977.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Alice Ward, Margaret Howard, and Frances Kelly.
Louise is survived by her son, Tom Jennings, of Kansas City, Missouri; her daughter, Katherine and her husband, Guy Butterworth, of Cranbury, New Jersey; a granddaughter, Alice Oconnor and her husband, Roger, of St. Louis, Missouri; her brother, W.T. Puryear and his wife, Doris, of Longview, Washington; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and many friends.
She lived her entire life in Seymour and was a graduate of Seymour High School in the Class of 1939. After she and Harry were married, they made their home in Seymour and lovingly raised their children. Besides being a devoted homemaker to her family, she also had worked at Royal-McBee in Springfield, the Brown Shoe Company and H.D. Lee Company in Seymour.
Louise had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior early in her life and was a member of the Seymour First Baptist Church. She was very proud to be the oldest living member of the church.
In her spare time she loved traveling on bus tours and taking trips with her family and friends. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, knitting and crocheting afghans for family and friends, and taking part in the activities at the care center.
Louise was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring friend and neighbor. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the precious memories she created for all those who knew and loved her.
Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 18, 2010 in Holman-Howe Chapel in Seymour, with Reverend R.J. Adrain officiating, with burial in Seymour Masonic Cemetery under direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri. Visitation will be 6:30-8:00 p.m., Friday in the funeral home.
