Maddelena Cotrel's Obituary
Maddelena Sanfelici Cotrel was born December 27, 1929, in Villa Pagquun, Montona, Italy. She departed this life Saturday, December 13, 2008, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years, eleven months, and sixteen days. On December 16, 1968, she was united in marriage to Phillip Edward Cotrel, Jr., and to this union one son was born. Maddelena is survived by her husband of forty years, Phillip, of the home; a son, Phillip E. “Eddie” Cotrel, III, of Falcon, Missouri; a sister, Nora Sanfelici, of Italy; several nieces and nephews; a number of cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. She was born and raised in Italy and lived all of her early adult years there. She met Phillip while he was serving in the military and was stationed in Italy, during the Vietnam War. After they were married, Maddelena and Phillip made their home in different locations while Phillip continued to serve in the military. They were stationed in Germany and in Michigan, and then made their home in Blue Springs, Missouri, before moving to Falcon, Missouri, in 1982. Maddelena became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1979, and was a devoted homemaker to her husband and a loving mother to their son. Maddelena was raised in the Catholic faith and held firm to her belief in God throughout her life. In her spare time she enjoyed caring for her yard, and loved animals of all kinds, especially dogs, cats, and birds. She was a friendly and outgoing lady who never met a stranger. She loved her family dearly and made them the center of her life. She loved living in America but also had a great fondness for her homeland of Italy. Maddelena was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and cousin. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday December 15, 2008 at the Family of Faith Church. Burial will be in the New Home Cemetery near Falcon, Missouri. Visitation is Sunday Evening 5-6:30 pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe funeral home Lebanon, Missouri. Return to top
