Mae grew up in South Dakota and graduated from Brandon High School.
On October 14, 1961, Mae married the love of her life, James “Jim” H. Dykstra. Together they have shared over sixty-two years of marriage, supporting each other through the challenges of life and celebrating the good times and accomplishments.
Family was the cornerstone of Mae’s life. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim; five sons, Kevin Dykstra of Lebanon, Missouri, Terry Dykstra and his wife Tina of Minnesota, Jason Dykstra and his wife Sandra of Lebanon, Missouri, Greg Dykstra and his wife LaDonna of Marshfield, Missouri and Travis Dykstra of Lebanon, Missouri; her daughter, Krista Honey and her husband Jeff of Lebanon, Missouri; twenty-two grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Ann Westberg of Beardsford, South Dakota; and her brother, Kenny Geraets of Mitchell, South Dakota.
Those preceding her in death were her parents and an infant brother, Marvin.
Mae and Jim spent the first sixteen years of their married life in South Dakota before moving to Missouri in 1977 where they owned and operated a farm. They thoroughly enjoyed life on the farm and making their home there.
In the mid-1980’s, Mae began a career with LEEP and was there for over twenty years. She enjoyed her time there and made many friends.
Mae loved her family very much and dedicated her life to their special needs son, Travis. She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They brought her so much joy and she looked forward to the moments they could spend together.
Mae will be remembered for her selfless love for her family, especially Travis, and her hard work and dedication. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and know her family and friends will treasure the memories they made with her.
A memorial has been established in honor of Mae Louise Dykstra and donations may be left at the funeral home.
