Maggie Belle Kelley (Humansville)'s Obituary
Maggie Belle Kelley,Humansville, MO passed away Friday morning at CMH Health Care in Bolivar with her daughters by her side.
Maggie was born November 8, 1926 to Claude and Martha Ballard Paul in Cliquot, MO. She was raised on a farm near Dunnegan. She attended her elementary school years at Rose Bud School getting there by walking across several fields and creeks and over fences no matter the weather. She attended Humansville High School graduating in 1944. She then attended Southwest Baptist College and getting her master’s degree from Drury University. She started teaching in a little one room school that had eight grades. She started teaching in Humansville Schools around 1956 and was an elementary teacher for many years before becoming the principal. She retired around 1988 when her husband’s health failed. After her retirement they enjoyed traveling. Maggie met Floyd Kelley and they were married December 21, 1945. Three children were born to this union, Donna, Carolyn, and Barbara,
They moved to the farm where she still lived in 1951. They milked cows, raised horses, pigs and many other animals Floyd would bring home.
So many memories on the farm. She was inducted into the Humansville’s School Hall of Fame. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Humansville and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a hospice volunteer for several years. She loved to travel, take care of her huge yard and flowers and pulling dandelions. She hated weeds and dandelions. Maggie loved garage sales, flea markets and bowling and had participated in a senor bowling league for several years. She loved her faithful companion Lucy, her dog. She was loved by all her “Kids” that she taught though the years, some three generations.
Preceding Maggie in death are her husband Floyd Kelley on August 15, 1989, her parents Claude and Martha Paul. Surviving her are her three daughters, Donna and husband James Myers, Carolyn Lean, Barbara and husband Ronnie Hunsaker; four grandchildren, Jimmy Myers, Kelley Myers, Ronald E. “Beau” Hunsaker Jr., Jo Dee Ryan; four great grandchildren, Jake Myers, Emily Myers, Hank Ryan and Luke Ryan; Several step grand and great grandchildren; one sister Wilberta Hulett and her husband Roy Dee; two sisters-in-law, Maxine Young and Nadine Kelley; several nieces and nephews and cousins. Also her special friends Rick and Barb Crews.
