Maggie Snell's Obituary
Maggie Lou Snell, age 90 of Bolivar, MO and formerly of Columbia, MO entered into rest on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility in Bolivar after a short illness. Maggie was born on July 29, 1918 in Howard County Missouri. She grew up in and around Howard County, St. Louis and Columbia. She married Vencil Celmont Snell on April 2, 1939. They made their home in Rocheport and Columbia for several years before she moved to Bolivar to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She was saved at an early age and attended Sulphur Springs Baptist Church until moving to Bolivar, then she attended the Fair Play First Baptist Church. Maggie took great pride and joy in spending time with family and friends. She loved embroidery and sewing quilts for all her children and grandchildren. She had a very giving spirit and was loved by many. She also enjoyed doing ceramics that she had given to many friends and loved ones. Also Painting. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ethel Cook. Her husband Vencil Celmont Snell. One sister, Pauline Kellher and two brothers, Paul L. Cook Jr. and James Cook. One son Vencil Don Snell and one son-in-law James Bozarth. Maggie is survived by her daughter, Wanda Bozarth of Bolivar; her daughter-in-law Charlene Snell; one sister Alice Freeze. Also surviving is 5 granddaughters, Lou Culbertson and husband Mickey, Laura Snell, Lisa Robitalle, Pam Bozarth, Ginny Arnold and husband. 3 grandsons, Jim Bozarth, Dale Bozarth and Dixie Bozarth, Donald Snell. Also 6 great granddaughters, Amanda Helmsworth, Jessica McKinney, Kimberly Pitts, Hope Hall, Kristy Bozarth, Ashley Bozarth and 8 great grandsons, Vencil Bozarth, Mickey Ray Culbertson Jr., Timothy Bozarth, Allen Bozarth, Chris Pitts, Khris Hall, Owen Snell and Mason Snell. There are 7 great great grandchildren, Ethan Helmsworth, Ratasha Bozarth, Hailey Redd, Anthony Culbertson, Mason Bibbo, Dakoda Pitts and Kaden Lamb. Funeral services for Maggie Lou Snell will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. in the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church at New Franklin, MO with Brother Gary Humphrey officiating. Musical selections will be “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Precious Memories” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain” sung by Gary Humphrey and Gilbert Humphrey. Casketbearers will be Travis Helmsworth, Vencil Bozarth, Timothy Bozarth, Allen Bozarth, Mickey Ray Culbertson, Chris Pitts and Chris McKinney. Burial will be in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery at New Franklin, MO under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar, MO. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 1, 2009 from 6-7 PM at the Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Bolivar and also a visitation on June 2, 2009 from 10:00am to 12:00 PM in the Memorial Funeral Home at Columbia, MO.
