Marcella Brown (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Marcella Jean Brown (Medlock) was born on November 2, 1939, in Douglas County, Missouri, and was blessed to meet Jesus face to face on January 16, 2024, at the age of 84. Marcella made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ at a young age and lived her life serving the Lord and all his children. Marcella was a hugger!
Marcella moved to Polk County and the Bolivar area in 1941. She attended the North Ward School in Bolivar and graduated from high school in 1957.
Marcella married Bob Kent Brown on June 20, 1958, in Bolivar and resided there to serve their community.
For their 60th Anniversary Bob and Marcella and the entire family took an Alaskan Cruise together. Many people commented on how well the family got along and it was easy to see how much we loved each other.
Marcella worked alongside Bob for many years, building homes and serving others. They have touched numerous lives over the years through youth meetings, Vacation Bible School, church camps and mission trips. Bob and Marcella built a home with an open door to anyone who needed a place to stay. Their home was filled with many missionaries and people who just needed a place to stay.
Marcella has been an integral part of The Polk County Christian Social Ministries since its founding on April1, 1985, and was currently serving as President of the PCCSM Board of Directors. She loved listening to and hugging people and praying with and for them. She has also volunteered for numerous years with Share Your Christmas: obtaining donations and collecting goods to be given out.
Surviving Marcella are her husband of 65 years, Bob; daughter Cheryl Briggs (Brown); son Mark Brown and wife, Melissa (Goss); daughter-in-law, Stephanie Brown (Mallory); sister-in-law Wanda Hunter (Brown); grandchildren: Melissa Briggs, Mallory Hunter (Brown)-Andrew, Amy Briggs, Stephen Brown, Ashley Brown, Austin Brown, Alexis Goss, and Brady Goss; great-grandsons, Randall David Hunter, and Walter Brown Hunter.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Felda and Helen (Viles) Medlock; father and mother-in-law, Dillard and Lorene Brown; son Randall Kent Brown (2013); son-in-law Thomas Berry Briggs (2015).
Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
Marcella’s Celebration of Life will be Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Bolivar, Missouri: Oh what a celebration that will be!
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Gideon Bibles and to the PCCSM.
