Marcella Matlock's Obituary
Marcella Fern Matlock, daughter of William Edward and Ivy Myrtle (Dennis) Sheppard, was born July 26, 1925, on the family farm east of Hartville, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, December 22, 2010, in her home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, four months and twenty-six days.
On May 15, 1947, she was united in marriage to Joseph Robert “Bob” Matlock, and they have shared the last sixty-three years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Earl, Gorgene, Clifford, Alston and Curtis Sheppard; four sisters, Wilma and Wilda Sheppard; Margaret Shelby and Utella Matlock.
Marcella is survived by her husband, Joe “Bob” Matlock, of the home; two brothers, Russell Sheppard and wife, Joan, of Mountain Grove, MO., Bob Sheppard, of Republic, MO.; a sister, Avis Brown, of Mountain Grove, MO.; a sister-in-law, Mytella Sheppard, of Hartville, MO.; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Born and reared in the Broyles Community near Hartville, she graduated from Mansfield High School in the Class of 1946. She then attended Beautician School and throughout her life worked as a stylist. She and Joe were married after his discharge from the U.S. Army and live in southeast Missouri for a few years before moving to California where they resided in Sacramento for twenty-seven years. After they retired they enjoyed traveling for several years and in 1995 located in Lebanon, where they have made their home since.
She centered her life around her family and caring for their home. Cooking, shopping, and growing flowers gave her great pleasure. She loved the outdoors, especially the fall colors and changing seasons of the year.
Marcella was a devoted and loving wife, a cherished sister and aunt; and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishment and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed but will live on in our hearts forever.
Funeral services for mrs Matlock are set for 11:00 am Monday December 27, 2010, in Holman-Howe Funeral Home Hartville, Missouri, with burial to follow in Broyles Cemetery, East of Hartville, Missouri.
Visitation will begain at 10:00 am until service time Monday December 27, 2010, in the Funeral Home.
