Margare 's Obituary
Margaret Delores Bullock, daughter of Charles R. and Genieva Blanch Wakefield Peck, was born January 19, 1928, in Topeka, Kansas. She departed this life Saturday, March 27, 2010, in her home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, two months, and eight days. On November 17, 1963, she was united in marriage to Byron Vaughn Bullock, and they shared thirty-five years before his passing on August 31, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, David E. Roosa; and a grandson, David E. Roosa, Jr. Margaret is survived by a daughter, Melody M. Wright, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, George E. Roosa, of Stoutland, Missouri; two granddaughters, Jessica L. Shaffer, of Richland, Missouri, and Joanna Mary, of the State of California; two grandsons, Jason D. Cossey, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Danny Roosa, of the State of California; two special great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Tatum, and five other great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Kansas, and then moved with her family to California when she was eight years old. She continued to make her home in California for many years, and lovingly raised her children. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her family, Margaret worked as a telephone switchboard operator in Los Angeles, California. It was not unusual for her to take calls from such famous stars as Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Jerry Lewis, and Frank Sinatra, to name a few. Her least favorite telephone calls were from Bing Crosby, because she couldn’t get him to stop singing in her ear. She later worked at City of Hope, a research hospital, as a supervisor and ran the switchboard. She became attached to many of the patients while working there. She then worked at Crest Molded Products for a few years. After moving to the San Bernardino area of California, she worked for the C.E.O. and others at Cedars School, a private school for troubled teens. In 1995, she and Byron moved to Lebanon, Missouri, and made their home. Margaret attended Rim of the World Church in Running Springs, California, where she, her daughter, and her granddaughter were all baptized together. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for many years, and was known as the “game lady”, because she was always in charge of games for the children. After moving to Lebanon, she had attended Community Baptist Church. She took great joy in her years of service to her church and her Lord. She possessed a delightful sense of humor and enjoyed time of fellowship with her family and friends. Nanny, as she was endearingly called by most people, was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 31, 2010 in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home.Burial will be in the Mt. Rose Memorial Park. Visitation is Tuesday evening 6-7:30 p.m. under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
