Margaret Elaine Belt (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Margaret Elaine (Shewey) Belt, age 97, peacefully passed away on October 23, 2021 in the home of her daughter in Augusta, Kansas. Margaret was born in Edmond, Kansas, January 2, 1924 to Arnold and Mary (Wright) Shewey, and was the second to the youngest of 10 children.
She was united in marriage to Dillard Belt in February 1947, they were married 64 years. Together they raised 4 children in Augusta, Kansas. In 1983, they retired to a farm in Windyville, Missouri. They then moved to Lebanon, Missouri in 2000 until Dillard's death in 2011. She moved to her granddaughter’s in Springfield before returning to Augusta Kansas to live out the remainder of her days with her son and daughter. She was a Christian and enjoyed her membership in the Baptist Church. She loved crocheting and sewing and has given everyone a handmade quilt. She spent time gardening and liked to share her knowledge and her plants. She enjoyed cooking and family dinners. Her rolls and homemade bread were always a favorite. She collected recipes and created a cookbook for us to enjoy for years to come. She loved her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed traveling and was always up for a road trip with her grandchildren or her daughter. She had a permanent smile and was easy to make laugh. Every visit ended with a kiss, a hug, and her telling you she loved you. Margaret was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dillard; her brothers and sisters; two children, Linda and Ollie; and a grandson, Ronald Cantu. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine and son, Daniel; 10 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021 in the Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Long Lane, Missouri under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.
