Margaret Brooks' Obituary
Mrs. Margaret Maxine Brooks, age 93 of Bolivar, passed away Sunday evening at Parkview Healthcare Facility in Bolivar after a lingering illness.
Margaret was born on February 28, 1918 in Arcadia, Kansas the daughter of William Ellsworth Gabel and Crystal Josephine (Cox) Gabel.
As a young adult, she went to Kansas City, to Secretarial School, and later worked for Folgers Coffee, and Standard Oil Co. in Kansas City. She later worked at Sheffield Steel Co. in Kansas City and Houston, TX.
Margaret was united in marriage to Ralph Brooks on Feb. 3, 1951 and to this union one son Randy was born.
She was a member and deaconess at the First Christian Church in Bolivar.
She and Ralph moved to Bolivar in 1968 and began farming and later owned and operated the B & L Farm Supply at Humansville, MO for 5 years.
Surviving is her son Randy Brooks of St. Joseph, MO, a grandson, Kristopher Nicholas Brooks of St. Joseph, Mo and his mother Martha Brooks of Bolivar, MO
Funeral services for Margaret Brooks will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 1:30 PM in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Book officiating. Musical soloist will be David Vincent singing ?Gentle Shepherd?, ?Amazing Grace? and ?How Great Thou Art?. Pianist will be Jean Vincent. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar. Caskebearers will be David Scott, John R. Smith, Gary Short, Nick Maas, Roger Grider and Tony Porter.
