Margaret D. Owens (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Margaret Denise Owens, daughter of Kenneth J. and Jessie H. Weddle Henderson, was born February 18, 1956, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She departed this life Friday, September 25, 2020, in the SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of sixty-four years, seven months, and seven days.
On December 26, 1976, she was united in marriage to Larry E. Owens.
She was preceded in death by her mother; a brother, Kenton Henderson, and his wife, and daughter.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Larry, of the home; four children, Jerry Owens, and his wife, Julia, of Long Lane, Missouri, Jennifer Dampier, and her husband, Andy, of Buffalo, Missouri, Amy Owens, of Lebanon, Missouri, and James Owens, of Los Angeles, California; three grandchildren; her father, Kenneth Henderson, and his wife, Mary, of Eufaula, Oklahoma; a brother, James Henderson, and his wife, Rachael, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born in Iowa and lived her early years in Iowa, Missouri, Alabama and Florida. The family made their home in Missouri when she was fourteen and she graduated from Buffalo High School. After she and Larry were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area for the last thirty-seven years. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Margaret also worked for H.D. Lee Company in Lebanon, followed by several years at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri as a liaison between the patients and the doctors, and finally at Emerson Electric for a number of years.
Margaret had attended First Assembly of God in Lebanon but for the last several years she had been attending Cross Creek Church in Lebanon. Earlier in life she had played the piano in a gospel band. She had a love for southern gospel music.
She was an excellent cook and enjoyed quilting and gardening in her spare time. She was a very talented musician and liked playing the piano for church and for her own enjoyment. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her children and grandchildren.
Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she made for them during her lifetime.
