Margery Dierks' Obituary
Margery Ann “Monnahan” Dierks was born on May 4, 1933 in Oelwein, Iowa. She left this life on June 24, 2012 at the age of seventy-nine years.
Margery was the daughter of Paul and Lola “Bartholomew” Monnahan. On July 13, 1952 Margery was united in marriage to Robert Lee Dierks. They were married in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. From this union there were seven children that were raised by Robert and Margery, two sons and five daughters.
They made their home in Iowa and in 1961 moved to Missouri, residing first in Elkland and later moving to Grovespring, Missouri. Here they raised their family and farmed, having a large poultry operation and raising beef cattle and hogs. She enjoyed her houseplants, flowers, and her flower and rock gardens, often spending hours working. She enjoyed traveling and getting to spend time at different places, having visited all 50 states with her husband and friends.
Margery was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lola Monnahan, 2 brothers, Paul “Bud” Monnahan, and Bob Monnahan, a sister, Erma Jean Graf and a grandson, Joshua Jordan. Margery is survived by her husband, Robert “Spud” Dierks, of the home and her children, Robert “Nub” Dierks and his wife Peggy of Grovespring, Kathleen Fritz and her husband Richard of Hartville, Rebecca Jordan and her husband Denny of Grovespring, Jeanne Marty and her husband Pete of Lebanon, Paul Dierks of Niangua, Jacqueline Norman of Kansas City, Dawn and Mike Shannon of Lebanon. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Marilyn Voorhies and her husband Terry of Texas and Donna Monnahan of New Mexico. 3 sisters in law, LaVonne Dierks of Springfield, MO, Anna M. Feley of Northwood, Iowa and Elaine Dierks of Osage, Iowa. Margery has ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren along with numerous other family members.
Margery was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed her family very much, often having her grandchildren spending a lot of overnight time with her. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friend.
Funeral services for Margery Ann Dierks will be held Thursday June 28, 2012 at 10:00 AM, in Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Hartville, Missouri, with burial to follow in Mt. Pisgah cemetery, Grovespring, Missouri.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening 7-8:30 PM in the Funeral Home.
