Margie Crisp's Obituary
Margie Novella Crisp, daughter of George Washington and Myrtle Ines Smith Thompson, was born June 22, 1920 in Hartville, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, November 12, 2008 in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri at the age of eighty-eight years, four months, and twenty days.
In 1938 Margie was united in marriage to Giffen C. Crisp and to this union one son was born.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Giffen; her son, Ervin Crisp; a sister, Hazel Coffman; and four brothers, Bill Thompson, Sherman Thompson, Harry Thompson, and Darrell Thompson.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Helen Crisp of Springfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Carlene Carriger of Hartville, Missouri, Rick Crisp, Allen Crisp and Marvin Crisp, all of Springfield, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Summer Crisp, Anthony Carriger, Damon Crisp and Tarah Owens; a sister, Peggy Day and her husband Edgar of Lebanon, Oregon; a brother, Pepper Coffman and his wife Janet of Camdenton, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Margie was born near Hartville and spent most of her life in the area. In her younger years, she had worked for a short period of time at the Kelsay Café, but spent most of her life being a devoted homemaker, and taking care of her family.
Margie was a kind and caring person who loved to do things for others, she had a sharp mind and could remember even the smallest of details. Margie knew, and was known by everyone in the county.
She liked taking drives and sight-seeing through various locations in the area. Margie had a great love for her grand and great-grandchildren and enjoyed sewing for them, making many beautiful dresses and shirts.
Margie was a loving grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2008 in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Hartville, Missouri. Burial will follow in Steele Memorial Cemetery, under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville. Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday evening in the funeral home.
