Margie Lee Hughes (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Margie Lee Hughes, age 85 of Springfield, MO passed away Friday, July 27,2012 in James River Care and Rehabilitation Center after a lingering illness.
She was born on January 22, 1927 in Fair Play, MO the daughter of Frank Elmer Sprague and Serena Elizabeth (Hutchins) Sprague. She was born at home and her older Sister Alta was awakened one morning and was told to come and look at her new baby sister. Alta wasn’t aware she was going to have a new baby sister and was quite surprised.
She was united in marriage to Jesse Ralph ‘Hop’ Hughes on January 22, 1947 in Fort Scott, Kansas. To this union two sons were born, Steve and David.
‘Hop’ and Margie Lee lived in Ft. Scott for many years where she worked for the Mid-America Office Forms Co.
Margie Lee and ‘Hop’ loved to be with their boys and camping was one of the many enjoyments they all had together. She also was a wonderful cook, loved fishing, going to Wal-Mart, Sewing, Play cards, especially Pitch and Uno. And was a very competitive Pitch player , always hating to lose and sometimes, jokingly would do whatever it took to win… Margie Lee was always a late night person, but didn’t like the early morning hours, so her day usually started a little bit later than most. Her older sister Alta and she were very close and were fortunate to live very close to each other in their later years, which meant a lot to Margie Lee and to Alta.
Margie Lee was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister and loved all of her family very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jesse Ralph ‘Hop’ Hughes on May 26,1987 and her only brother Perry Sprague.
Surviving is her two sons, Steve Hughes and wife Cindy of Branson West, MO and David Hughes and wife Denise of Cape Fair, MO. Her sister Alta McCrory of Springfield, MO, 8 grandchildren, Kim Good and husband Brent, Scott Hughes and wife Heather, Elizabeth Hughes, Pat Hughes, Mike Hughes, Aimee Hughes, Rick Stockstill and wife Christie and Molly Hale and husband Rick. Also 9 Great Grandchildren, Tre’ Tucker, Dylan Briggs, Jenna Stockstill, Emily Good, Madison Good, Katelyn Good, Hawk Hughes, Carter Hale and Anabel Hale. Also her brother-in-law John Hughes of Carl Junction, MO. In addition, nieces, nephews, cousing and a host of many friends
