She was born in Battlefield and graduated from Republic High School in the Class of 1943. She met Amon at the Doling Park skating rink by chance, when she fell in front of him. He picked her up, became acquainted with her, and the rest is history. After marriage, they lived with her mother for one year, and then moved to Mansfield in 1946, where she lived the rest of her life on the farm. She worked at Mansfield Schools in the cafeteria from 1964 until retiring in ???, and then for the Mansfield Mirror for several years.
Margie had made a profession of faith in Christ at a young age and was a member of Mansfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church since 1946.
Margie was very civic minded and volunteered countless hours at the Cumberland Presbyterian Women’s Group, Mansfield Community Center, Ozark Mountain Players and Mansfield Historical Society.
In her spare time, she loved making peanut brittle and everyone whoever had it wanted it every year. She took great pride in keeping her yard mowed and loved being outdoors. One secret that only her family and close friends knew was that she had a boyfriend whom she always bragged about, Ronald McDonald, the maker of the ice cream; she would drive to Ava just to get an ice cream cone.
Margie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and will always cherish the many special times we had together.
